The LSWR/SR 0-4-4 tank loco was built between 1897 and 1911. Designed by Dugald Drummond for use around the London suburban network, they ended up on semi-fast workings to Exeter, Plymouth, Bournemouth and Weymouth then on stopping services to Reading and branch lines in the SE of England. The first 25 were constructed at Nine Elms, this was followed by five major sets of design variants.
